Jiu Jitsu, also known as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on ground fighting and submission techniques. It originated from Japanese Jujutsu and Judo, but was developed and popularized in Brazil.
In Jiu Jitsu, practitioners aim to control and submit opponents through various techniques such as joint locks and chokeholds. It emphasizes leverage and technique over brute strength, allowing smaller individuals to overcome larger opponents. The art promotes physical fitness, mental discipline, and self-defense skills.
Training in Jiu Jitsu involves sparring sessions known as “rolling,” where practitioners test their techniques in live situations. The sport has gained global recognition and is an essential skill for self-defense, as well as a competitive sport with tournaments held worldwide. Whether for fitness, self-defense, or competition, Jiu Jitsu offers a comprehensive approach to martial arts that emphasizes technique, strategy, and control.

We like to help 👍👍👍
We are not sure what age you believe is young but it does not matter.
Jiu Jitsu is for all people, all shapes, all sizes and all AGES.
In fact Grand Master Helio Gracie trained until he was 95 years old!
Tough question. Truth be told it is not easy to master, but what is?
However, you will see results from early on, be able to participate from day 1 and, we hope, have fun through the entire journey.
Many MMA athletes do practice jiu jitsu, in fact it is a critical skill.
However, it is NOT MMA. There are no kicks or punches. Jiu jitsu revolves around using leverage and manipulation to gain the upper hand.
Oh boy, somebody call legal.
Like any contact sport it comes with risks.
But BJJ is one of the safest martial arts out there because it minimizes the chances of someone getting injured. Unlike other martial arts, like Muay Thai or Boxing, BJJ doesn’t use any type of striking techniques which leads to fewer injuries overall.
Another reason why BJJ is so safe is that it’s based on technique and leverage rather than strength. So even if you’re smaller or weaker than your opponent, you can still win by using proper technique.
We take safety seriously and pay attention to a controlled environment and having proper equipment (mats) in place.
